This is a super clean professional Yamaha 61 tenor sax made in Japan in 1971 (4 digit serial number) - one of the nicest condition 61s we've had in - some minor lacquer wear

Yamaha starting producing saxophones in 1967 after a 4 year development program and these first models ooze quality - a real competitor to the Selmer models being produced at the same time. The early 4 digit 61s are considered to be the finest made Yamahas ever made - big, dark edgy tone - the later ones tend to play a little brighter.

The nearest new equivalent would be the modern 62 saxes but in reality if Yamaha were to re produce the 61 using the same materials and crafting it would be triple the price!

Just had a full strip wash polish and full rebuild service (£250 cost) by our in store sax tech - this instrument plays perfectly and comes with our famous 12 month warranty!

Comes complete with super clean original Yamaha 61 hard case.

*REFURBISHED - a refurbished instrument has (at the very least) been stripped, washed, cleaned, polished, professionally rebuilt and set up to play perfectly. Worn corks, felts and pads will have been replaced, spring tensions balanced, key heights adjusted etc. Some instruments will have been completely overhauled using all new pads - any specialist work or customization will be included in the instrument description.
