Liverpool Sax Day '19 - WIN PRIZES!!

As part of 2019's annual Liverpool International Jazz Festival, Liverpool sax specialists Curly Woodwind host another action packed afternoon of workshops and demonstrations for all sax players and enthusiasts. All held in the beautiful surroundings of Liverpool Hope University's Creative Campus, 17 Shaw Street, Liverpool, L6 1HP.

This year, international sax superstar Andy Sheppard guests with an informative lecture on all aspects of his playing, practicing and performing – a great treat to gain some useful insights from one of the UK's finest. Make sure you book tickets to watch Andy perform as he headlines the Festival that evening! Curly Woodwind will also be hosting workshops throughout the afternoon for players to join in and learn instrument techniques and useful approaches to improvisation (bring your sax and join in)

You'll also be able to try out all the latest Vandoren Sax Products, D'Addario reeds and sax products, Yanagisawa Saxes, Trevor James Saxes, SYOS Shape Your Own Sound 3D printed mouthpieces from Paris, Morgan Fry boutique handmade in UK mouthpieces, Hiscox cases and, of course, the Andy Sheppard Autograph custom saxes and mouthpieces, as well as talk to the manufacturers direct on their stalls!

Plus, you'll be able to enter the FREE on the day prize draw. Various prizes: a Vandoren V16 mouthpiece, a D'Addario Select Jazz mouthpiece, a K & M sax stand (made in Germany),  boxes of D'Addario and Vandoren reeds of your choice – all announced and given away on the day!

12:00 LSD'19 starts - have a browse, try out some different saxes/ equipment and chat to the manufacturers (there'll be plenty of time to go back to the stalls throughout the afternoon)

12:30 - 1:30 Novice to Intermediate improvisation workshop with Bob Whittaker - here's a chord and here's a scale that fits over but how to make it sound more interesting? 2:00 - 3:00 Intermediate to Advanced improvisation with Dean Masser - Dean is a stunning, in demand player on the UK jazz circuit and has some great ideas on "de-mystifying" the whole jazz improvisation method. 3:30 - 4:30 International sax superstar Andy Sheppard entertains with an informative talk and insights into his approach to playing the saxophone.
