Description

"the most realistic "woody" sounding synthetic we've ever tried" - Bob & Nick, Curly Woodwind Ltd

VENN Generation 2 - £27.00 inc. FREE UK shipping: an advanced synthetic reed constructed of polymer fibers, resin, and natural cane elements. Designed to give players the benefits of synthetic reeds without compromising on the sound and playability of cane reeds.

Developed by the industry’s most revered engineers, VENN signals a whole new era in woodwinds innovation: combining the stability and longevity of a synthetic reed with the sound and feel of natural cane. To mimic the organic structure of cane, we reverse-engineered cane itself, layering different strengths of polymer fibers with resin and natural reed elements to make up the reed blank.

How long do VENN reeds last? D'Addario say "With proper care for the tip of the reed, VENN is designed to provide roughly 3-6 months of playing. While priced comparably to a box of ten conventional reeds, VENN will outlast them, giving a player up to three boxes worth of playing time."

If you buy the wrong strength then D'Addario will replace with an alternative strength free of charge.

Great fun lovely tone over standard full range

I usually use a synthetic reed for practice as I can leave my sax set up for the day. My preferred cane reed is a 2.5 vandoren blue. I tried this 2.5 venn reed on several mouthpeices and different altos. I found it played well on all combinations once I found the correct ligature. The reed is slippery and I found that the metal ligature over an hours practice lost grip on the reed. This happened several times until I used a wrap around ?leather ligature
