This is a Stephanhouser 1000 handmade in Taiwan alto sax in the popular vintage unlacquered finish.

Originally sold new from us around 20 years ago we absolutely loved these when they came out!

Unfortunately not available new any more - with current market prices they'd probably be close to £2000 now.

The Stephanhousers were the first "super" Taiwanese horns we saw followed  by the likes of P Mauriat, T James Raws and so on a couple of years later.

A very cool rare interesting sax that boasts quite a few innovative design features such as some  screwless sprung keys nickle key touches etc.

They play absolutely great with slick modern key alignment excellent intonation and a gorgeous thick tone that reminds us of a vintage Martin Committee III.

Overall a great price for a hand built Taiwanese pro horn with oodles of character.

Stripped, washed, polished and professionally rebuilt by our in store sax technician (£200 cost), this instrument plays perfectly and comes with our famous 12 month warranty!

Includes original great condition protective case and care kit.

*REFURBISHED - a refurbished instrument has (at the very least) been stripped, washed, cleaned, polished, professionally rebuilt and set up to play perfectly. Worn corks, felts and pads will have been replaced, spring tensions balanced, key heights adjusted etc. Some instruments will have been completely overhauled using all new pads - any specialist work or customization will be included in the instrument description.
