This is a Henri Selmer MKVI tenor sax in silverplate finish, made in 1964.
Being sold on behalf of a retired pro player, this sax has been well looked after and regularly serviced repaired. Truly a player's horn, it has been played and has a few knocks here and there but no horrible repairs/ resolders - in very good condition. It's french engraved and as with many of the players of this era was re plated as part of an overhaul some time ago. There are a couple of dings on the neck but again nothing terrible. It's a terrific good solid sax - very little wear on the keywork/ action - everything's nice and tight. Intonation is really solid - a very even scale from top to bottom. Tone wise this one is surprisingly dark and lush - reminds us more of an SBA - a nice focussed Selmer classic sound but a little more spread than many VIs - top end and palm keys very FULL sounding and doesn't thin out.
Pads are in very nice condition, plenty of years on them. It's not a "museum" piece but a solid, gig ready horn and is a GREAT price!
We've just done a full strip, wash, clean up and pro set up on it (pads re seated, springs tensioned, worn corks/felts replaced) (£150 cost) and it's playing great.
Comes complete with a superb condition custom built flight case and of course, our famous 12 month warranty!
