Looking after a flute is relatively easy but there are a few steps that can help reduce the number of times you will get your flute repaired.

One of the most common ways to damage a flute is to bend the keys whilst putting it together.

Below is a short film to show how to assemble a flute correctly.

I would also add that taking your time to put the flute together would also prevent many of the repairs we fix.

 

Taking the flute apart is basically the same as assembling the flute, but in reverse.

After playing the flute it is a good idea to give it a clean, as shown below.

 

These measures won't prevent you ever needing a repair on your flute but will certainly help keeping it in playing order.

As with all instruments we would recommend getting it serviced every two years. This servicing is free for any new flute bought from Curly Woodwind within two years of purchasing.
